What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a form of healthcare dedicated to treating the body as a whole. Through chiropractic adjustments, chiropractors remove the nerve interference by correcting misalignments in the spine, which are called subluxations. Chiropractors diagnose and treat a multitude of conditions that result from these subluxations both in the spine and other joints.
The nervous system controls every voluntary and involuntary function in our body; it is responsible for everything from sneezing to the coordination our body needs when riding a bike. The brain is the "control center" of the nervous system. It is responsible for sending and receiving messages to and from other parts of the body. The spinal cord is the pathway between the brain and the rest of our body. Nerves travel from the spinal cord to every part of the body, including our organs and muscles.
When these nerves become irritated, due to subluxations and muscle spasm, they do not transmit or receive these messages properly. As time continues, our body begins to accumulate these subluxations due to posture imbalance, trauma, and incorrect biomechanics which result in the nervous system not functioning at its best. Accumulation of subluxations and muscle spasm work hand-in-hand, eventually leading to sensations of pain, burning, numbness, tingling, among other symptoms throughout our body.
